Jade & Ross - Marquee Beach Wedding - North Devon

Why did you choose Yeti?

Because your work is amazing!! After watching you work and seeing your final products we wouldn’t want anyone else capturing our day. We love your creativity and how your photos really tell a story and capture everyone’s true emotions. Ross and I aren’t ones for staged photos and love that natural look that we know you capture so well!!

You guys…what do you do?…how do you spend your days?

The most important thing to us is our family and spending quality time with them! We love being outdoors exploring our local area. Walking, swimming, surfing and spending days on the beach. As you know We have a large and amazing group of friends that we enjoying spending time with. We can’t wait to finally have us all back together at our wedding. Ross left the Navy at the beginning of last year and has gone back to his building roots. I was working as a teacher in a special needs school before I had Isla. I now own my own messy play and sensory facility that Ross worked so hard to build during lockdown. At the moment life is pretty none stop with renovating the house, my new business and of course deciding to have a wedding very last minute. So at the moment we have very little time to do the things we enjoy but it won’t be long until we can get back to it. Normally we would spend evenings on the beach having dinner, walking the dog and having a swim or surf. Weekends are normally spent with friends or family walking, relaxing on the beach or having dinner and drinks together. For years we have wanted our own VW camper. Last year we finally got one and we can’t wait to get out and explore the country in it. With Covid we have really missed exploring and going on holiday. We are very chilled out, easy going people that love being outdoors.

The proposal. Tell me everything. (All the gushy details!)

We have been together since I was 16 and I thought this day would never come. Ross was only coming home the odd weekend due to his job in the Navy but one weekend he rang on his way back saying we should take the dog for a walk at our favourite spot (Baggy Point) I was reluctant and wasn’t that keen as the weather was pretty rubbish, but he convinced me to go. We’ve spent a lot of time at Baggy. In our early days of being together we sat at the top of baggy for a picnic, throwing strawberries over the cliff. Ross said that if he EVER proposed he’d do it in that spot. I spent most of the walk moaning about my week at work and didn’t really come up for air. Luckily for Ross as he was trying to keep his cool anyway. Once we reached the picnic spot Ross gave me a hug and started reminiscing about our picnic and him saying he’d propose here. He then fumbled around his in pocket and pulled out a gorgeous ring- that we couldn’t actually see because by this point it had got too dark! However, Ross wasn’t the only one with a surprise. We had been trying for a baby and that week I thought I might be pregnant. With Ross coming home I decided to wait and do a test with him. So once we were home I surprised him with some more very exciting news, we were having a baby. Only problem was, everyone wanted to celebrate. It was a hard couple of months hiding our pregnancy and pretending to toast our engagement.

A North Devon Cliff top…..Why this place above any where else?

Putsborough beach was somewhere both Ross and I spent a lot of time with our families when we were kids and the field also looks directly at our proposal spot over at Baggy. Anyone that knows us would say we’d be the ones getting married with the sea in the background. The beach is a big part of our life and it wouldn’t be our wedding if it wasn’t seen from our venue.

What experience do you want to give your guests?

A bloody good time!! As you already know we are a group that loves a party. After the year and a half we’ve had, we’re all so excited to get out and celebrate. Our wedding is pretty informal with lots of unconventional things happening, but that is very us. We never do things the way everyone else does!
