Sophie & Ed - Totnes marquee wedding

Why did you choose Yeti?

Great reviews and feedback from others. Also love how you work and I love working with people who are truly passionate about what they do and they want to ensure they deliver the best possible service.

You guys…what do you do?…how do you spend your days?

Ed - so laid back he's almost horizontal. Has his own barbershop in Totnes which he opened in 2018 and trained at the London School of Barbering 4.5 years ago. Is obsessed with all kinds of sport - plays golf in his spare time and plays football for Truro. He trained at Torquay United's football academy when he was at school and has played football ever since! He used to play rugby (hence the slightly wonky nose...) but soon realised it wasn't for him. He is still friends with his original friendship group from school (Kevicc), but knows just about everyone in the whole world thanks to football and his job - which is quite surprising as he's such a quiet person when you first meet him. He has quite a big family who all live relatively locally (which you'll soon see) but decided not to follow their footsteps and go into farming or property. He keeps himself to himself but is secretly the most caring and kind human ever. Sophie - less laidback... but more so since being with Ed. Went to University of Plymouth and completed a History degree, officially trained as an accountant but teach finance instead at South Devon College. Will talk for England and find it hard to control my enthusiasm/excitement for everything! My family are much smaller but there's still a few of us - most live around Southampton/further north. I like to bake in my spare time and also go to the gym; other hobbies include drinking prosecco and eating... We both don't spend much time together due to work and other commitments, so we try to have 'date nights' where possible! Walking the dog is also a firm fave.We care a lot about seeing family and friends, so we like to ensure we spend as much time with them as possible - and with each other of course!

The proposal. Tell me everything. (All the gushy details!)

29/08/2020 - We had planned our house warming party for this day so I picked Ed up from work in the morning and we went for breakfast with the dog. He asked me where we should go for a walk, so knowing we had a house warming party to sort out I suggested going to Vier Island in the town as Arlo (dog) runs around looking for the squirrels. Ed suggested walking up towards Ashprington where we walked a lot during lockdown so we headed up there. I was on the phone to sky for quite a while during the walk as we had wifi issues and they called to say they'd sorted it out etc. I was behind Ed and he started walking up a huge bank to the top of a field where you can look out over the river dart - I was still on the phone at this point so can imagine he was getting a bit tense! We got to the top and I was off the phone, but then the dog did a poop and I had to pick it up... We started walking over towards a tree and I walked slightly ahead of Ed and I saw him bend down in the corner of my eye, then I heard 'Soph...' so turned around and there he was! I cried a lot and eventually said yes! It was a huge shock - we drove back into town as Ed 'had to get something from the shop' which turned out to be a massive bouquet from our florist! We went back home just in time for family to arrive for a bbq and they were all super surprised and most of them were in tears (apart from my dad who knew the whole time!). Our friends came over later that evening for the house warming party, which turned into an engagement party. So was a fab day!

The location…..Why this place above any where else?

The church is where Ed was christened and where his mum is chruch warden. The marquee is being held at Higher Poulston farm, which is owned by Ed's parents, so it has sentimental value to his family. His parents have worked incredibly hard to build it up from nothing, so it's nice for it to be appreciated in this way.

What experience do you want to give your guests?

Tasteful yet full of entertainment. A nice blow out after the last 18 months we've experienced!
