Jodie & Chris - Spring Wedding - Kingston Estate, Devon

Why did you choose Yeti?

You were recommended by both our venue and our photographer (Paige grace photography). We love your style and choices. It’s so personal and timeless.

You guys…what do you do?…how do you spend your days?

Family, friends and food. We love exploring and getting lost in unfamiliar places. A long weekend away, an evening walk with the dogs, a board game night with friends or a new tv series is our way to relax. We love skiing, going to the theatre, walking, and adrenaline packed activities like quad biking. I live for anything sporty ... Jodie's a dancer (ballet and contemporary) at heart. After 5 years of travelling we struggle to settle for long and like to always have something booked in the calendar to look forward too.

The proposal. Tell me everything. (All the gushy details!)

The proposal was a total surprise. We had not long returned from our final trip away to South America. It was an absolutely stunning Sunday in May. We were walking the two dogs over her favourite part of Dartmoor, near Haytor where the view goes on for miles all the way to the sea. I had tried twice on the walk to pluck up the courage but much to my dismay people kept stealing the spot, getting in the way or it wasn’t as private as I wanted it to be. One of the dogs knew something was going on, she kept staring a my pocket (probably thinking it was a biscuit). Finally on our way back towards the car with Haytor in the background and only the Dartmoor ponies surrounding us, I got down on one knee ... She assumed to tie my lace. I called out to her and she turned to find me knelt looking very worried and a little pale. I simply asked if she would marry me. She replied with a giggle and a ‘what’, so reluctantly has to repeat myself and pulled the ring from my pocket. Luckily she said yes with a big smile on her face. The ring fitted perfectly, excellent choice if I dont say so myself.

Kingston Estate…..Why this place above any where else?

We wanted somewhere local, we loved the idea of a country estate with all the character of Devon but style of Sussex. For us it was important everyone could come and stay with us ... Kingston offered exactly that and for a whole weekend! A weekend away with all our closest family and friends, eating, drinking and dancing the night away was absolute perfection for us! We loved that we could build a proper home cooked vibe menu with the chefs. The Undercroft is the party venue secret we can’t wait to share.

What experience do you want to give your guests?

For us, yes it is a wedding and yes it’s absolutely about our love and promise to each other. But it’s also a time to celebrate, cherish and be completely humbled by the wonderful support network that surrounds us. We want our guests to enjoy seeing everyone we don’t always get to see, to be relaxed and have time to reflect. It’s fun, a bit silly and full of laughs.

Why did you have your wedding captured on video?

I was the one keen for a videographer, photos just wouldn’t capture some of the moments in the same way video would. It’s timeless and something a bit different. Something we can watch and enjoy for years to come. Many friends have said hiring a videographer was the best wedding choice they ever made.
